Nestled in the vibrant heart of Brookline, Kyuramen offers a refreshing take on authentic Japanese cuisine with a special focus on expertly crafted ramen bowls. This ramen restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving rich, nuanced flavors that are both comforting and exciting.
At Kyuramen, each dish tells a story of meticulous care and culinary tradition. The standout Tonkotsu Ramen, with its luxuriously rich broth simmered to creamy perfection, beckons ramen aficionados and newbies alike. The noodles arrive springy and perfectly cooked, cradling a symphony of fresh toppings that elevate every bite. For something beyond the bowl, their Pork Tonkatsu Omurice offers a delightful surprise—fluffy omelet-wrapped rice drizzled with a luscious demi-glace sauce that tastes like a warm, comforting hug on a plate.
Appetizers such as the Takoyaki with Bonito Flakes and the savory Kyuramen Bao Buns burst with flavor and texture, making them perfect to share or enjoy as a prelude to your main course. Fans of umami will relish the Ika Geso Kara-Age crispy squid, and the Lobster & Chashu Salad Ball brings a fancy yet approachable twist to the experience.
The dessert menu provides a delicate finish to your meal. The Matcha Pudding with Red Bean is silky smooth, with just the right earthy bitterness balanced by sweet red beans, while the Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly enchants with its subtle floral notes and playful texture.
In terms of ambiance, Kyuramen strikes the perfect balance between cozy and stylish. Diners have praised the intimate booths, some cleverly enclosed for privacy, and the unique wooden honeycomb canopy that adds an artistic touch without sacrificing warmth. The atmosphere invites conversation, laughter, and slow enjoyment of great food, though note that the space can be lively during peak hours.
Beyond the food, Kyuramen impresses with attentive and friendly service. Guests appreciate the efficient and courteous staff who ensure your dining experience is smooth—customers even enjoy the novelty of a buzzer system to call servers, adding a modern, convenient twist.
Whether sharing the renowned spicy ramen that “packs a punch” or savoring the perfectly balanced flavors of the pork belly skewer accompanied by a refreshing Thai Iced Tea, Kyuramen delivers a memorable meal for couples, friends, and solo diners alike. The little details—from the fascinating Japanese Ramune sodas in glass bottles to the inventive menu offerings—set this spot apart as a culinary gem in Brookline’s food scene.
Kyuramen is more than a restaurant; it’s an authentic, sensory-rich journey into Japanese comfort food, crafted with passion and precision. If you’re seeking a place where every bite reflects craftsmanship and where the atmosphere wraps you in cozy sophistication, this is your destination.
This place came to my attention after they opened in Brookline and I wasn't disappointed. In my group of four, we all ordered ramen as well as an appetizer plus a dessert. Though the portion sizes were a bit smaller than we'd hoped, the balance of flavors and spices more than made up for it. Atmosphere was inviting (we sat under one of those wooden honeycomb canopies) minus the loudness of suppertime. Service was above average but sometimes it was hard to wave somebody over. My suggestion would be to install a physical call button at each table (almost like a pager) moving forward. But even if not, I'd still recommend this place for anyone looking to grab some really good ramen! Will have to try the omurice next time ~
Yummy Ramen! Perfect for couples (party of two) they have a bundle for two ramens that come with dessert for a GREAT PRICE. Pictured: Regular Ramen: 100/10 Spicy Ramen: 1000/10 Matcha Pudding: 1000/10 Rose Jelly Dessert: 7/10 The WAIT is longggggg, but so worth it lol! Great Service, spacious and fast serving time!
Such a cute and authentic experience! My boyfriend and I got the tonkatsu omurice and the honeycomb sampler platter of appetizers and it was perfect. Although the restaurant specializes in ramen, it’s hard to find omurice in the city and this totally hit the spot. Delicious demi glace sauce and we got the cherry blossom jelly as a dessert which had a balanced floral flavor and crystal boba. I would honestly order the honeycomb sampler as a meal myself - such great variety and it was like a bento on its own. Loved my experience!
I had an amazing experience at Kyuramen in Brookline! The ramen was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced you can tell the broth is made with care. The noodles had the perfect texture, and the toppings were fresh and generous. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, making it a great spot for both a casual meal or a night out with friends. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole visit feel welcoming. Definitely one of the best ramen spots in the Boston area I’ll be coming back soon!
Went here recently and was not disappointed at all! The food was very flavorful and the group had no complaints. There is a little buzzer on the wall when you want to call a server over which I thought was pretty cool! The service was FAST, sat down and got our food within 15 minutes. The staff were very friendly. Another cool thing I’ve never experienced were the enclosed booths offering people privacy while they eat. I will definitely be coming back!
I had the C1 combo menu with the Shoyu Chicken Ramen, 3 pieces of Gyoza Fried Dumplings, and the Japanese Jelly Blossom Jelly. The value and the taste were amazing, the staff were also very nice and welcoming. Will definitely be back to try out their other menus as well.
I stopped by with my family for a late lunch. It was easy for us to find street parking and cost about $3.00 for 1.5 hours. We got the A and B set which came with the ramen noodles, popcorn chicken and pork bao. There’s a cherry blossom and matcha pudding dessert included too. The ramen was tasty and the noodles were cooked well with an al dente texture. The soup was rich and savory. We did not want any bamboo shoots in any of our noodles and they made it perfectly to our order. Service was good. The waiter got us what we needed and even got our two kids plastic cups for water instead of glass. I appreciated details like this for families and children. Lastly, the bathroom was clean and smelled clean. I felt comfortable eating here knowing the restaurant staff cares to clean the facilities. The aesthetics and atmosphere were clean and also kept to some traditional Japanese style for ramen noodles houses. Great job, we will be back again.
Good service and love the decoration. The food came out fast and were pretty good portions. The flavor on the ramen was great but the noodles seemed to be like the cheap maruchan ones. The omurice with the katsu was good but I wish I had gotten the curry sauce, the demi-glace didn’t have much flavor to me. The bao buns were so soft and flavorful, definitely recommend. About $70 total for 2 people
